Wii Playground Review

Playground is set in an elementary school playground during recess. The games you can play include Dodgeball, Tetherball, Wall Ball, Kicks, Slot Car Racing, Paper Racers, and Dart Shootout. When you’re on the playground, you’ll meet the Sticker King – a kid who gives you stickers for your marbles. You can win marbles and trade them in with the Sticker King for stickers.

After you collect enough stickers and Golden Stickers you can unlock other areas of the playground. It’s a fun concept and reward system built into the game.

Here is a look at some of the mini games you’ll need to do well at to earn your Golden Stickers!

Kicks

Kicks on Playground

My son liked Kicks the best, which is a combination between tennis and soccer. There are 3 kids on each team and the object is to get the ball over the net and into the opponents goal.

Dodgeball

Everyone has played a friendly game of dodgeball in gym at school or on the playground.  There are four people on a team. You throw the ball at the other team members. You can block the ball, or catch it to keep you in the game. The team who knocks out all the opposing team members – Wins!

Tetherball

The object of this game is to get the ball wrapped all the way around the post in the correct direction. My son didn’t like this mini-game.

Wall Ball

Wallball on Playground

Wall ball is you against another player – either computer or a friend. You play with a tennis ball, and similar to tennis, you hit the ball against the wall and the other player must return it. If they fail to return the ball, you get a point. This was a boring mini game, but there were some added features to make the game more interesting – like a magic portal, speed ball, and you can earn extra points for hitting a certain spot on the wall.

Slot Car Racing

Slot Car Racing on Wii Playground

There are four toy cars, each in their own lane, that you can control with your “remote”. You can hit other cars off the track. There are obstacles and bonus speed found along the track. This was a fun one!

Paper Racers

Paper Racers was a difficult game. You have to navigate your paper airplane through the school hallway avoiding obstacles and aiming your plane through rings for extra points.

Dart Shootout

Dart Shootout on Playground

Dart Shootout is a fun way for the kids to play a shooting game without the violence. There are boxes and other objects to hide behind. You need to shoot the other kids coming at you with your dart gun before they get you. But, don’t take too long because they move closer and closer to you every second!

Final Thoughts on Playground

Wii Playground is a great game for kids ages 6 to 10. It’s a game the kids will play for hours, and doesn’t get old after the first day or two. A good investment for good wholesome fun!
