007: Quantum of Solace for Wii Review

007007: Quantum of Solace is a fun first person shooter (if you like that kind of thing). As a mom of an 11-year old boy, I have allowed him to play (despite the Teen rating), but I prefer if he played something else.

My son loves this game, and could spend hours at it. The object of the game is to kill all your opponents through sniper shooting, handgun shooting, and even hand-to-hand combat. You can pick up guns and ammo along the way and switch between a multitude of different types of firearms.

Super Smash Bros Brawl For Wii

super-smash-bros-brawlSuper Smash Bros Brawl for the Wii is plain and simply -  FUN! Every age loves it, from 5-80. And it crosses the gender lines, so its the perfect game to invest in. OK, so some may ask why I recommend this for young players, when its rated Teen. It has all your favorite Nintendo characters in various fight scenes. This isn’t the kind of violence you’d see in a Teen rated single person shooter like 007 Quantum of Solace, so why these two games are rated the same is beyond me!

For the single player game, the player is taken through an adventure game through mazes and old and new scenes to defeat the bad guys to get to the end. Read More …

Indiana Jones: Staff of Kings for Wii

Indiana Jones and the Staff of Kings for Wii is a great game. It’s an adventure game that involved fighting and problem solving to create the perfect mix for a ‘movie game’.

Indiana Jones: Staff of Kings

Its rated Teen for mild language and violence, but it was challenging enough that only teens could effectively solve the puzzles and advance in the adventure. My 11 year old son spent hours trying to solve the puzzles and figure out how to conquer each challenge. Keep the level of game playing in mind as you choose Indiana Jones for your kids. If they’re too young, or an inexperienced gamer, they may become frustrated quickly with this game.

X-Men Origins: Wolverine for Wii Review

X-Men Wolverine for WiiX-Men Origins: Wolverine is rated Teen, and if you’re a mom like me, you’re often confused by different levels within the Teen rating. Xmen Wolverine is not like The Simpsons level of Teen rating with cute and obnoxious comments from Bart Simpson. No, this is a ‘closer-to Mature’ Teen rating, with blood, lots of violence and fight scenes, and language that you probably don’t want your 12 year-old listening to. And, just to drive this point home, the Xbox 360 and PS3 versions of Xmen Wolverine are rated Mature.

So, with that out of the way, let me tell you this was not one of our favorite Wii games. My son became bored with the fight scenes (which are similar to any Spiderman game you’ve ever played, but with less variations on combos and special powers). Read More …
